Boat Ramp Carpark Upgrade Proposal
Hardwicke Bay Progress Association has put together a Concept plan to upgrade the boat ramp car park. A draft (not to scale) plan of what is proposed is below. We believe this will enhance the area and provide increased facilities for people using the area.
This concept plan is subject to Council approval, funding and after community consultation. The proposal is as follows
- Council to clear sand and rocks from the southern side of the carpark back to the power pole and fence line
- Council to erect a retaining wall along the southern boundary to stop the sand from infiltrating the car park
- Progress Association to remove current memorial wall and erect a new wall against the council retaining wall at the rear of the shelter with approval of families of Memorial Wall plaques
- Purchase a new toilet block which will have handicap access and place on the southern boundary so as it is well away from the memorial wall
- Plumb the toilet into the sewer system at the rear of the beachfront shacks
- Purchase and install a new BBQ and place at the shelter
- Council to seal the new area parking area and mark out parking bays

The Progress Association Committee conducted public consultation via a survey which was open for responses for a period of two weeks, closing on 14 November 2025. 84 responses were received and the results have been collated into a report which will be considered as part of the decision making process on what, if any, parts of the proposed development are progressed. A copy of the report is available at the link below.
